Also special five coins were available for people at their official face value. The box with these coins was opened especially for tender.

Bill Morneau, the Honorable Minister of Finance of Canada, pronounced during his speech that the Government of Canada is proud much of the fact that the Mint had produced special coins with its face value of 1$ devoted to the one century anniversary celebration of Right of Women to Vote. As well he noted that the launch of this coin is partly dedicated to Canada joining to the world in celebration of International Women's Day. The Government hopes that people from every part of Canada will collect these coins, look at them and remember about societal equality and fundamental value of all parts of Canadian society.

Majority of women who lived in provinces Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba were given the right to take part in the provincial elections in the 20th century (to be precise, 1916 year). It was the beginning of the decades of movement for the universal suffrage in Canada.

The flip side design of the new coin shows a woman with her daughter of 1916 year. The woman puts her ballot for vote and her daughter is looking straight on it. A girl is a symbol of future here. The design was worked out by Laurie McGaw, Canadian artist, together with the phrase on the coin.

5 000 000 of the circulation coins are planned to release.

President of the Royal Canadian Mint, Sandra Hanington, stated that it's very symbolically that the new coin was manufactured in Winnipeg, because exactly here women got their right to participate in the election for the first time in 1916. As well she said about the pride of the Mint because of 1$ anniversary coin issue, which will always remind about women's rights and history of their achievement.
